Is anchor text important?

I just found out that anchor text is important when it comes to optimization of a website. I was reading this blog earlier and I read how anchor text allows people to rank better. I was dumbfounded and confused because I would have never thought anchor texts are important because I would be giving a link away when I refer someone to another site.

Though I did not understand at first, I came into realization that search engines rank sites for having good anchor text for the sole purpose of allowing visitors navigate easily as possible and get the information they needed with out having to do much. With this concept in mind I am beginning to learn that I should not worry for trying yo please spiders to rank me, but I should rather concern myself with what the people are looking for on my blog and giving them what they want, and by this I will gain page rank on search engines naturally get ranked. Click here to check out the blog I just read.

Did you guys already now that anchor text was important for search engine ranking or am I the only one that didn’t think to much of them?? :|

Social network traffic or Search engine traffic?

Hey everyone, today I was thinking of how search engine optimization is very important, but I hear social networking can bring as good or even better traffic than search engines. Right now for my blog I been optimizing it and keeping it search engine friendly with tags, relevant links, anchor text, and etc, but recently I have been leaning more towards the social networking side.

I noticed from my blog statistics people that search for something and reach my blog usually leave faster than a visitor from social network like MySpace or something. I believe social networking is a good traffic generating strategy because I can create a profile, connect with people, and build relationships faster rather than waiting to get ranked by Google.

With connections to many people anyone anyone can place a link to a site on a profile, and people are will more likely be interested in what leads to that link. And with this strategy people can use the power of influence to create communities and of course leads.

To summarize everything here I believe search engines are great for massive traffic and social networking can be just as great and maybe even better, for search engines will automatically find sites that are popular and with strong traffic from social networks.

What do you guys think because I could be wrong?
